What we use to create your crossword and help you get it back.

Your draft and purchase.

While you edit, Crossword Edit saves your draft in this browser so you can return to it on the same device. Browser storage also keeps your appearance preference, checkout continuity and purchase shortcuts. Clearing browser data can remove those local copies.

When you start checkout, we store a copy of the crossword design, including the names, date or location if supplied, title, answers, clues and design settings. We also store order identifiers and purchase timestamps. This lets us generate the purchased PDF and verify later download requests.

Payments and purchase emails.

Stripe processes checkout and payment information. Your full card details are entered with Stripe; Crossword Edit does not store your full card number. We use payment references and the checkout email to verify purchases and provide download links.

When you request purchase recovery, we use the email address you submit to look for purchases and send available links. Transactional email delivery uses Resend. These purchase emails are separate from marketing.

Services that help run Crossword Edit.

Crossword Edit uses Vercel for hosting, MongoDB for order storage, Stripe for payments and Resend for transactional email. These providers receive the information needed to perform those services. Hosting and security records can include request times, network addresses and browser information.

We use your submitted crossword content to provide your puzzle, downloads and support. We do not publish purchased crossword content as public examples or sell it to advertisers.

Website analytics.

We use Umami to understand visits to our public pages and which websites refer visitors. Analytics uses static page names and referral domains, with browser and approximate location statistics. It does not use tracking cookies. We exclude purchase and recovery pages, URL queries, crossword content, checkout emails and purchase identifiers from analytics. Umami Hobby retains analytics for six months.

Keep your purchase link private.

A purchase link provides access to that order and its PDF. Anyone with the link may be able to view or download it. Share the finished printout or PDF with guests and your printer when appropriate; avoid posting the purchase link publicly.

Only include personal details you are comfortable sharing through your wedding puzzle. We do not need sensitive financial, medical or identity information in clues.

Records and requests.

We keep order information so we can provide downloads, purchase recovery and support. Support messages contain the information you choose to send us. To ask about access, correction, deletion or the information retained for an order, email blaineritz@gmail.com. Include the checkout email or receipt details so we can identify the relevant purchase.

For a missing download, start with purchase recovery. For purchase and refund information, read our terms.
